Building Envelope Repair & Coating, Roof Replacement, Drainage Improvements and Plaza Restoration at Springfield Superior Courthouse
In 2004 CSI was awarded the two-year project to repair and restore the building envelope, roof and plaza decks at the Springfield Superior Courthouse. Water intrusion into the building and garage below, from multiple sources, necessitated extensive repairs.
The existing tar and gravel roof was removed and replaced with a new Sarnafil system incorporating new tapered insulation, drains, and perimeter flashings.
The entire building envelope required extensive concrete repairs and epoxy injection to repair cracked and spalled areas of concrete. All window perimeter sealants were removed and replaced prior to the entire façade receiving two coats of elastomeric coating.
At the plaza level, encompassing approximately 25,000 SF, the entire paving system including the large granite staircases were removed along with the existing waterproofing in their entirety. A new hot-applied waterproofing system incorporating new drains and flashings was installed prior to the replacement of the overburden, granite staircases and decorative concrete sidewalks and footpaths.
Miscellaneous items of work included in the contract were interior upgrades to the bathrooms, door signage and front entrance doors.
