Key CSI Projects Involving Building Facades

Point of Americas Condo - Architectural Features

Owner:       Point of Americas Condominium, Inc.

Location:   Fort Lauderdale, FL

Engineer/Architect:  Bromley Cook Engineering, Inc.

Point of Americas I is a 25-story condominium located on Ft. Lauderdale Beach. The building's architectural channels became damaged with holes when another vendor ran electric cables through the channel.

CSI was called upon to repair the architectural channels, which run the height of the condominium. The CSI team successfully completed the work, often using a swing stage hung from the roof to access each repair location.

CSI repaired a total of 14 channels with 98 damaged locations. For each repair, aluminum plates were inserted for reinforcement as crews applied, sanded and painted repair material to match the existing finish.

The building owners commended CSI on the quality of the repairs, and the "nonappearance" that damage had ever occurred. They also invited CSI to perform $16.5K of additional work, involving the replacement of expansion joints located at the parking deck. CSI removed 175 ft. of an existing joint system and replaced it with a new Emseal expansion joint system.
