Veterans' Monument at Togus National Cemetery (HISTORICAL MASONRY)

CSI was awarded the contract to provide a comprehensive repair / conservation of the 1916 Soldiers & Sailors/Spanish War Veterans Monument at Togus National Cemetery in Augusta, Maine.

The scope of work included removal and cleaning of marble commemorative tablets, removal of the existing deteriorated coating on the monument, concrete repair of deteriorated areas of the monument, and epoxy injection of miscellaneous cracks.

Upon completion of the concrete repairs and crack injection, the base around the monument was dug out to 30 below grade and concrete repairs were made the base of the monument as well.

The base of the monument below grade was waterproofed with a liquid, cold-applied elastomeric waterproofing membrane.

The final step of the monument repair was to re-coat the monument with a mineral silicate coating. The cleaned marble commemorate tablets were then re-installed.
