Calvert Hall at St. Mary's College is home to the St. Mary's College of Maryland Archives, which provides for the acquisition, organization, description, preservation, and availability of unique materials documenting the history of the school as well as the history of Southern Maryland, particularly St. Mary's County.

Exposure to the elements and the age of the building had caused exterior masonry deterioration throughout the building including the roof/parapet and entrance stairs.


  • Brick Parapet Masonry Repairs: Demolished/reconstructed isolated areas of parapet

  • Replaced roofing membrane and reset a series of coping stones as part of weatherproofing treatment

  • Replaced concrete landing support structure for secondary entrance stairs

  • Repointed brick archway that supports the landing

  • Brick Stair Entrance Repairs: Removed & replaced broken brick and reset out of place brick and repaired failed mortar joints
